Welcome to Aero.bw a non-profit Startup built by a brilliant local team of youth engineers, your partner in promoting mental health awareness and providing accessible support for everyone in Botswana. Our mission is to foster a society where mental well-being is understood, valued, and prioritized. At Aero.bw, we believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, and no one should face challenges alone. That's why we've developed innovative tools and resources to empower individuals on their mental health journey. Organizations like the Botswana Network for Mental Health (BNMH) and the Mental Wellness Society of Botswana are actively working to provide support and raise awareness. This subsquently has made the features offered byt this system to be best suited for todays environment. Aero.BW made history as one of Botswana’s pioneering AI chatbot initiatives after the team, led by Mirza and Richmond Annan, won the 2020 BTC 4IR Hackathon. This achievement propelled the team into the national spotlight, with Aero.BW receiving coverage on national television, state media, and other online platforms. The team also participated in the Botswana Creators Cup, where Aero.BW was recognised among the National Top 10. Building on this success, Aero.BW went on to develop the CSR Botho platform, which subsequently won the CSR/Social Responsibility Prize at the FNB Hackathon. The team continued to innovate in the field of artificial intelligence and mental health by developing what it describes as the first AI-powered mental-health chatbot capable of supporting Kalanga and Setswana speakers. This innovation went on to receive recognition and win multiple national awards. Aero.BW has also demonstrated its commitment to research and engineering excellence through participation in the National Engineering Conference, where the team conducted research examining the influence of social media and emerging technologies on STEM education. The Aero.BW team is made up of young Botswana engineers and innovators from diverse educational, professional, cultural, and social backgrounds. The team embraces diversity and inclusion, bringing together members of different genders, disciplines, experiences, and areas of expertise. This diversity enables Aero.BW to approach complex technological and social challenges from multiple perspectives while developing innovative solutions designed to address the needs of Botswana and the wider African community.
